I am very excited to announce the opening of the 2011 Australia and New Zealand Internet Awards (ANZIAs). auDA and Internet NZ have been busy making this year’s program bigger and better than ever featuring new categories, cash prizes and a new look and website: www.internetawards.org.au

Another addition this year is the ‘pre-registration’ feature available on the website. Those who register will be posted a free information CD including everything you need to know about applying for the awards and a sneak peek of the application form (otherwise not available until 1 July).

This year’s categories include:

Security & privacy - Initiatives at the forefront of developing solutions to security threats or protecting the integrity of users' privacy. These projects will build trust and confidence in the online environment.

Internet access & digital skills - Initiatives that improve availability of the Internet, help people get online or provide online education and training to improve digital awareness and skills.

Information - Initiatives that bring information, knowledge and materials online.

Diversity - Initiatives that encourage expressions of cultural diversity and identity, including the promotion of multilingualism and indigenous cultures online.

IPv6 - Initiatives that facilitate or promote the uptake of IPv6 in Australia or New Zealand.

Innovation - Initiatives that make a significant contribution to the Internet through a new and unique venture.

Applications will open from 1 July to 31 August. Please pre-register to receive your info CD in the meantime.
