Community Broadcasting Association of Australia Conference

I was very pleased to attend and present at the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) “Let’s take charge of our future” conference that was held in Hobart from 21st – 24th October, 2010.

Co-presenting with Nicola Joseph of the National Training Project in the “Your station’s website – minimum effort with maximum effect” workshop; those that attended learnt that it’s a new environment out there. They learnt that their world is digital and that the community broadcasting industry needs to keep up with and understand the online environment to survive.

Nicola talked about how radio stations around the world are making the transitions to multi-platforms and shared information about some of the free easiest platforms to integrate into their websites such as WordPress and Twitter.

It was a great forum to present the Community Geographic Domain Name (CGDN) initiative where the delegates were enthusiastic to hear how they could potentially utilise the domain names to attract visitors and create community connection and/or connect with existing CGDN websites in their localities.
