RSS2011 auDA Foundation funding announced
The Board of Directors of the auDA Foundation are proud to announce the outcomes of the Foundation’s 2011 funding round.
"The auDA Foundation supports a diverse range of scholarships, research, community projects and awareness-raising initiatives”, said auDA CEO and Foundation Board member, Chris Disspain. “But what all of the successful applicants have in common is the way in which they utilise the Internet to improve the lives of Australians".
Since its establishment, the Foundation has held five funding rounds, providing grants to 72 projects, to a total value of nearly $1.3 million.
This year, seventeen projects were awarded a total of $311,765, with each receiving between $5000 and $20000. Recipients included organisations such as The Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC) and SANE Australia.
RIDBC Chief Executive, Chris Rehn, said that he was delighted to receive $14 500 from the Foundation which will help fund the “RIDBC & ME” online community for families with children who are vision or hearing impaired. “The website will link families on the RIDBC Teleschool service across Australia and facilitate social and professional support, knowledge exchange and online training. RIDBC & ME will be a crucial resource where isolated parents can learn from each other and share stories about raising children with hearing or vision impairment among others who understand.”
SANE Australia’s Executive Director, Barbara Hocking OAM, also welcomed the Foundation’s support. “I am delighted that SANE Australia has received funding from auDA Foundation. The funding will enable us to take ‘Mindful Employer’, our workplace mental health program, to selected rural/regional companies, which otherwise would be unable to participate in the program.”
