RSSauDA Awards Registry Tender To RegistrarsAsia Subsidiary
Melbourne, Australia, 12 December 2001 – auDA today announced that it has awarded the tender for registry services in com.au, net.au, asn.au, id.au and org.au to AusRegistry Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of RegistrarsAsia Pty Ltd.
“auDA is confident that AusRegistry will perform its registry operations with high levels of service, expertise and integrity,” said Chris Disspain, auDA CEO. “They have an excellent vision for the .au 2LDs and have brought together strong strategic partners to ensure a world-class registry system.”
auDA has licensed AusRegistry as registry operator for a four year period, which commences at the conclusion of the test-bed process in early 2002. The new registry will be the first country to utilise the EPP technical interface protocol, used by the operators of the .info and .biz global Top Level Domains.
AusRegistry will charge wholesale prices to registrars as follows:

Six companies responded to auDA’s Request for Tender to provide registry services for all 2LDs on offer. The tenders were evaluated by an independent panel according to the financial, technical and other criteria set out in the RFT documentation.
“auDA is pleased at the amount of industry interest generated by the tender process, and at the quality of the tenders received,” said Disspain.
auDA expects to announce the outcome of its Request for Expressions of Interest for Test-Bed Registrars before the end of the year.
