Generic Domain Names - Final Update

Posted by Jo Lim on 7 January 2003

The generic domain name auction process is now completed. Domain names that were not allocated as part of the auction process were released in October and December 2002.

Winning auction bidders received a Reservation Certificate for the domain name, which they can use to register the name with the registrar of their choice. A list of registrars is available here. Reservation Certificates are valid for 6 months from the date of issue.

PLEASE NOTE: auDA has granted a 21 day grace period on all Reservation Certificates. For example, if your Reservation Certificate is due to expire on 31 January 2003, you will still be able to use it up until 21 February 2003.

If a Reservation Certificate is not used within the 21 day grace period, then the domain name will become available for registration on a first come, first served basis. auDA will NOT advise if or when individual names become available.

For more information about the auction, please see auDA media release, 1 October 2002.
