New auDA Members

auDA has attracted a record 955 new members this month in response to the Federal Government’s Review of the .au namespace.

Recommendation 11 of the Review, released in April 2018, stated:

  • That auDA diversify its membership base in the short-term with a focus on extending membership to stakeholders that are underrepresented.

auDA CEO, Cameron Boardman, said the positive response from Ventra IP, Arq Group, Dreamscape Networks and Afilias, other organisations and individuals had seen the surge in membership.

“Membership quadrupled in a month in response to this initiative to expand stakeholder interests that had been underrepresented.

“This is a very positive move for the .au domain space and will further strengthen the operations of auDA by broadening the membership base.”

Mr Boardman advised that these new members would not be able to vote at the Special General Meeting to be held on 27 July, as they would not satisfy the voting eligibility under auDA’s Constitution.

auDA has accepted all of the Review recommendations, and is working on modernising the operation of the respected .au domain space for the benefit of all stakeholders and ultimately the consumers who rely on Australia’s safe and stable top-level domain.
