Posted by Jo Lim on 14 September 2012

The auDA Industry Advisory Panel has released its draft recommendations for the Australian domain name industry, including:

  • auDA to renegotiate with AusRegistry for the 2LDregistry operation, with provision for a tender process if negotiations fail

  • auDA to revise registrar fees to better reflect the costs of accreditation and ongoing regulation

  • mandatory adoption of the Information Security Standard (ISS) by all registrars

  • inclusion of reseller information in WHOIS

  • bulk registrar transfers in the case of merger or acquisition

  • bulk reseller transfers subject to auDA’s approval.

The Panel is seeking public comments on its draft recommendations before it finalises its report to the auDA Board. The paper, which includes contact information, can be downloaded here.

The closing date for submissions is Friday 19 October 2012.
